This was a meeting that Minister Farrak han invited Black leaders around the country to, from the Millions More March, leaders such as Clarence Thomas from the Million Worker March Movement, and Chris Silvera of the National Black Teamsters. :: Before the genocidal disaster that some call Hurricane Katrina, but we call Hurricane Amerikkka, since Amerikkkan policy made it disastrous for Black people, I hooked up with Erykah Badu at the Center Principle Institute in North Oakland where she was doing a community meet and greet. Badu is known for her consciously coded lyrics as well as her involvement in community activities with Black organizations like the Prisoners of Conscience Committee all over the world. Read more.

Thanks anyway :). :: As Hurricane Katrina victims told stories of being left behind, Farrakhan chided government officials and encouraged survivors to unite in the rebuilding effort. As New Orleans begins to rebuild, the city's black community should be a part of the process through government contracts and jobs, Farrakhan said. Singer Erykah Badu also made a brief appearance at the event, telling the crowd that it is time to wake up. "We weren't prepared, and we weren't organized," she said. "We have to make a promise that we won't let the same thing happen again."

PHOTOS 09.07.2005 :: A NCBM Katrina Relief Fund has been created, by the National Conference of Black Mayors, to provide hands-on relief to the displaced victims of the hurricane. “We encourage people of concern to make their tax deductible contribution to NCBM,” said Mayor Dorn. Mayor Dorn has personally contributed $10,000 to the NCBM Katrina Relief Fund. Calls are coming into NCBM from professional athletes such as Joe Horn (New Orleans Saints) and Eddie Hartwell, (Atlanta Falcons); entertainers including Vivica Fox and Erykah Badu; and Tommy Dortch, (former Chairman of the Board of 100 Black Men of America) to name a few.
