Over 1000 invited guests enjoyed
a brief duet with Erykah Badu and
a bout against Manny Pacquiao last
Thursday as Hennessy unveiled
its latest marketing campaign in
Los Angeles. Dubbed as “Wild
Rabbit”, the interactive
installations projected the
likeness of Badu and Pacquiao
onto the busy corner of Hollywood
& Vine, where guests
experienced the latest in
immersive technology for the very
first time. Also on hand were
three specialty mixed drinks,
inspired by Badu, Pacquiao, and
movie director Martin Scorsese.
The campaign, along with its
innovative installation, will
make its cross country till a
final presentation in New York
City on April 5th.
'RESCUED
FROM THE FIRE' SERIES For the 27th
episode of 'Rescued From The Fire' series,
Erykah Badu explains the album she would
pull from the flames if, God forbid, a
pizza box ever got left in the oven. For

BADU INTRODUCES HER CANNABINOIDS CREW Standing just
outside of Erykah Badu’s
backstage trailer in Austin, Texas, the
faint aroma of cannabis perfumes
passersby. After being ushered in, the
source reveals itself. Less than an hour
after performing a short, but mind-blowing
set at the Red Bull Thre3Style showcase
at South by Southwest, Badu is coolly
taking a few pulls from a joint. She’s
taken off the high heels she was rocking
on stage, slipped into a pair of Adidas
sneaks, and she’s unwinding in a
tattered black shirt and khaki long johns.
Erykah’s not alone in the hazy room,
either. There’s a load of male band
mates—fittingly dubbed The Cannabinoids.
She hand-picked this collective of
producers, DJs, and visual artists. Just
a day earlier (March 16), they released The Beat Tape, Vol. 1.
It’s a brief thumper, featuring just
over 14 minutes of spacey instrumentals
laced with soul samples and strung
together with movie clips and superb
scratching—a taste of things to come. Read more.

COLLABORATION
WITH THE FLAMING LIPS Since October, the
Flaming Lips have been offering hints regarding
their collaborative Record Store Day release.
Now, we have the full details of the
compilation, which is called The
Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends and
features collaborations with Bon Iver, Erykah
Badu, Nick Cave, Yoko Ono, Neon
Indian, Ke$ha, Prefuse 73, Tame Impala, Jim
James of My Morning Jacket, Lightning
Bolt, Biz Markie, New Fumes, Chris
Martin of Coldplay, and Edward Sharpe
and the Magnetic Zeros. It's out on
Record Store Day, April 21. Erykah
collaborated with the Flaming Lips on the
song called "The First Time Ever I
